SULGIN AVEXIMA is an antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent. It inhibits the growth of coliform bacteria, and reduces the intestinal synthesis of thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid.


A high bacteriostatic drug concentration appears in the intestine. SULGIN produces a bacteriostatic action against Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Proteus vulgaris.

Indications for use:

  • bacillary dysentery;
  • colitis and enterocolitis;
  • preparation for a large bowel surgery.
Dosing schedule:

  • in acute dysentery:

    — For adults
    2 treatment courses are given.

    The first course:
    Days 1 and 2 - 1 g (2 tablets) every 4 h (totally, 6 g/day);
    Days 3 and 4 - 1 g every 6 h (4 g/day);
    Days 5 and 6 - 1 g every 8 h (3 g/day).
    If required, after 5-6 days, the second course is given.

    The second course:
    Days 1 and 2 - 1 g every 4 h, at night - after 8 h (totally, 5 g/day);
    Days 3 and 4 - 1 g every 4 h (4 g/day), not to be taken at night;
    Day 5 - 3 g/day.

    - For children over 3 years old
    0.5 g (1 tablet) 4 times daily for 7 days.

  • in treatment of other infections:

    — For adults
    Day 1 — 1-2 (2-4 tablets) every 4-6 h.;
    subsequent 2-3 days — half-doses.

    — For children over 3 years old
    Day 1 - 0.1 g/kg/day in equal doses every 4 h;
    on subsequent days — 0.25-0.5 g every 6-8 h.
  • prophylaxis of postoperative intestinal complications:
    0.05 g/kg every 8 h for 5 days before and 7 days after the surgery.

The highest doses for adults: a single dose - 2 g; a daily dose - 7 g.

Shelf life:

4 years. Do not use after the expiry date.
