ACICLOVIR is a synthetic purine nucleoside analogue, which has an ability to inhibit human herpes viruses, including herpes simplex virus (HSV) of types 1 and 2, varicella zoster virus (VZV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV) in vitro and in vivo. In the cell culture, aciclovir possesses the most prominent antiviral activity against HSV-1, and then in the descending order: HSV-2, VZV, EBV, and CMV. The inhibitory activity of aciclovir for herpes simplex viruses is highly selective.

Indications for use:
  • treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including initial and recurrent genital herpes;
  • prophylaxis of recurrent herpes simplex infections;
  • treatment of chickenpox and herpes zoster.
Treatment of chickenpox and herpes zoster:
For oral administration with a full glass of water.

Treatment of herpes simplex infections: adults and children aged 3 years and over - 200 mg 5 times daily, treatment course is 5 days.

Prophylaxis of recurrent infections in adults: 200 mg 4 times daily, treatment course is determined by the duration of the period at risk.

Treatment of chickenpox and herpes zoster: adults - 800 mg 5 times daily, treatment course is 7 days; children aged 3 years and over - the dose is calculated as 20 mg/kg of body weight (not more than 800 mg), treatment course is 5 days.

Shelf life:
2 years. Do not use after the expiry date.
